About Me

My name is Kathryn DiPalma and I am a certified birth doula (DONA) in Fresno, California.

I’ve been married to my husband Dave for 34 years, and we live in Fresno, California. Dave is a recent graduate at The Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary and is employed in the burn unit/palliative care units at Fresno Community Hospital as a hospital chaplain. We have 2 grown and married children. Our son, Brian is married to Audrey and they are living near Atlanta, Georgia where Brian has graduated with his PhD in Hebrew Bible at Emory University. Our daughter, Kristy lives here in Fresno, with our two grandsons, Lincoln Anderson Philip Dixon and Rocco Landon Davey Dixon!     Dave and I love being grandparents!

Shortly after our kids were married in the summer of 2009, I began to explore what my ‘new’ life direction would be.   I have always loved babies, and began looking into ways that I could be involved with them. Becoming a certified Birth Doula in Fresno, was a perfect match for my skills.  I received my training from DONA International in March 2010, and I became certified through DONA on Sept. 21, 2010.  On Doulamatch.net you will also find a complete profile as well.

Recently, I completed the certification program for ‘Happiest Baby on the Block”.  Happiest Baby on the Block is a soothing method to be used with babies who have a difficult time making the adjustment into the 4th trimester.

I also completed a new training with StillBirthDay Birth & Bereavement Doula (SBD) which is a wonderful program which  provides support prior to, during and after birth in any trimester.  SBD Doulas are qualified to provide support in situations of fatal diagnosis, carrying to term, and NICU care.  SBD doulas are equally prepared to provide comprehensive support in live birth outcomes, including subsequent “rainbow” pregnancies, and can serve as a labor support in all birth situations.

I also am the part owner in Birth Day Suit Maternity.  When Kristy was pregnant with Lincoln, she decided she could not wear ‘one of those ugly hospital gowns’, so she designed her own gown.  As she walked the halls while in labor, she got so many compliments that we decided to start a business of sewing/selling gowns.  We have shipped our gowns all over the world and we love making mamas feel pretty during one of the most important days of their lives.  You can find our Etsy store here.  Check back often as we are always adding new items!
